A Buddha bust carved from a single log of unfinished wood. The artist used the natural splits in the wood as part of the sculpture, a true example of Michelangelo's quote "Every block of stone has a statue inside it and it is the task of the sculptor to discover it."
Buddha smiles serenely, his eyes cast downward. He wears a tall crown on his head and a decorated neck piece, both decorated in foliage.
The statue sits on two dowels raised on a black painted beveled wood pedestal base.
The statue is 21" tall and the base is 10" long and 6" wide.
